Crescent Spur Lodge

Fishing at Crescent Spur Lodge is built around access. Each day, guides use the helicopter to reach remote rivers, tributaries and alpine lakes across the surrounding mountains, choosing the best water based on conditions, water levels and the interests of the anglers. Depending on the location, anglers may spend the day walking and wading, floating sections of river, using jet boats on larger systems or fishing stillwaters from small boats or inflatable platforms. Short helicopter transfers can also be used during the day to move anglers into fresh water.

Bull trout are the main draw, with clear mountain rivers offering the chance to target large wild fish on streamers. These fish are often found in deeper pools, seams and slower holding water, and the fishing can involve heavier rods, sink tips and larger flies. Rainbow trout add variety to the program, with opportunities to fish dry flies, nymphs and streamers in both rivers and alpine lakes.

The fishing is highly flexible, but some days can be physically demanding. Anglers should be comfortable walking over uneven ground, wading freestone rivers and casting weighted flies for extended periods. Less demanding options can often be arranged, although some of the most remote and productive water may require more effort. With only a small number of anglers hosted each week and a large area available to the guides, fishing pressure remains low throughout the season.

Crescent Spur Lodge offers a comfortable base after long days on the water, with private rooms, ensuite bathrooms and plenty of space to relax. The timber-built lodge overlooks the Fraser River and is surrounded by forest and mountain scenery, giving anglers a strong sense of place without sacrificing comfort. Rooms are well appointed, while the main lodge includes shared lounges, fireplaces and outdoor areas where anglers can gather before dinner or unwind at the end of the day.

Facilities include an outdoor hot tub, indoor sauna, fitness room and on-site massage by appointment. Meals are prepared at the lodge using fresh, seasonal ingredients, with packed lunches provided for fishing days and dinner served each evening on return. The atmosphere is relaxed and personal, helped by the lodge’s small summer capacity and the limited number of anglers hosted each week.

Crescent Spur Lodge is located beside the Fraser River in British Columbia’s Rocky Mountain Trench, between the Northern Rockies and the Cariboo Mountains. Although the setting feels remote, the lodge can be reached by road and does not require a charter flight. Most international anglers travel through Vancouver International Airport before taking a domestic flight to Prince George Airport.

On arrival in Prince George, anglers are met by the lodge team for the approximately two-hour road transfer to Crescent Spur. Scheduled transfers between Prince George Airport and the lodge are included in the standard package, while private transfers outside the recommended arrival and departure times may carry an additional charge. Flight schedules should be confirmed before booking, particularly for the return journey, and anglers should allow sufficient time for connections in Vancouver.

Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Prince George Airport, where anglers are met for the approximately two-hour road transfer to Crescent Spur Lodge. After checking in, there is time to settle into the lodge, meet the guiding team and enjoy dinner.

Days 2 to 5: Fishing Days
Each morning begins with breakfast before anglers head out for a full day of guided fishing. The daily plan is based on weather, water conditions and the interests of the anglers, with helicopter access used to reach remote rivers, tributaries and alpine lakes. Fishing may include walk-and-wade river fishing, float trips, jet-boat access or stillwater fishing. Lunch is served in the field, followed by a return to the lodge in the late afternoon.

Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, anglers transfer by road back to Prince George Airport for their onward journey.

What level of fishing experience is required?
Crescent Spur can accommodate anglers with different levels of experience, and each day is planned around the abilities and interests of the group. However, anglers will get more from the trip if they are comfortable casting streamers, managing larger trout and following instructions in moving water. Fishing is limited to eight anglers, with two anglers assigned to each guide.

How physically demanding is the fishing?
Most fishing is done on foot after reaching the water by helicopter, so anglers should be prepared to walk over uneven ground and wade freestone rivers. Some days may include raft fishing, jet-boat access or alpine lake fishing, depending on conditions. Anglers with mobility concerns should discuss them before booking so the guiding team can plan suitable days where possible.

What fishing equipment is provided?
Rods, reels and flies are included in the standard fishing package. Anglers must bring their own waders and wading boots, along with suitable layered clothing and waterproof outerwear for changing mountain conditions. A detailed packing list will be sent before departure.

Do anglers need a fishing licence?
Yes. Every angler must purchase a British Columbia freshwater fishing licence, which is not included in the package. It is recommended that the licence is arranged online before travelling. The lodge or booking agent should confirm whether any additional water-specific licence or conservation stamp is required for the planned itinerary.

Can solo anglers join a trip?
Yes. Solo anglers are welcome and are normally paired with another angler of similar ability and fishing style. This makes Crescent Spur a practical option for anglers travelling alone without requiring them to organise a full group.
