Fishing aboard the Zaltana Mothership is all about chasing some of the Amazon’s most explosive freshwater predators, with the spotlight squarely on trophy peacock bass. These fish are not only visually striking with their vibrant coloration, but they’re also among the hardest-hitting species in the world. Double-digit peacocks are common here, and fish over 20 pounds are a real possibility. The action is aggressive and visual, with topwater strikes frequent, especially in the early mornings. Poppers and prop baits draw crushing surface attacks in shallow backwaters.
Anglers can also target a variety of Amazon species such as payara, arawana, bicuda, piranha, and even the elusive wolf fish, depending on the conditions and location. Fishing takes place from custom-designed aluminum bass boats, each equipped for two anglers and their guide, allowing easy access to lagoons, channels, and hidden tributaries that larger boats cannot reach.
Accommodation aboard the Zaltana Mothership combines rustic charm with thoughtful comfort, perfectly suited for an immersive Amazon fishing adventure. The vessel features spacious, air-conditioned cabins with cozy beds, ample storage, and large windows that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle and waterways. After a day chasing trophy peacock bass, anglers can unwind on the deck with a refreshing drink while soaking in the tranquil river atmosphere. When it comes to dining, the onboard kitchen serves up a delicious mix of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and familiar favorites. Guests enjoy hearty breakfasts, energizing lunches, and flavorful dinners that include regional specialties alongside international dishes, all prepared with care by the experienced crew.
