Frequently Asked Questions:
What species can I catch in the Ebro Delta?
The Ebro Delta is one of Europe’s top saltwater fishing destinations. Anglers target hard-fighting leerfish, powerful bluefin tuna, bluefish, sea bass, bonito, dorado, and other prized Mediterranean species. Seasonal runs also bring in schools of baitfish that attract trophy predators close to shore.
When is the best time for fishing in the Ebro Delta?
The fishing season runs year-round, but peak times vary by species. Bluefin tuna are most active from July to October, while leerfish and bluefish are abundant through summer and early autumn. Sea bass can be caught throughout the year, making the Ebro Delta a versatile fishing destination.
Can I combine Ebro Delta saltwater fishing with wels catfish fishing on the Ebro River?
Yes. Many anglers choose to combine a saltwater fishing trip in the Ebro Delta with an inland adventure on the Ebro River. After targeting species like bluefin tuna, leerfish, and bluefish on the Mediterranean, you can head upriver for a few days of freshwater action. The Ebro is world-famous for its massive wels catfish, often weighing over 200 lbs, along with trophy carp. This combo creates one of the most diverse fishing holidays in Europe, offering both saltwater and freshwater trophy species in a single trip.
